Greetings to all:
I hope everyone is visiting the WGSF Television on-line pages from time
to time.
I have heard via e-mail from several former staffers lately, which I much
appreciate.
Please check in, and let me know that you are receiving these e-mails.
If you know of any former WGSF staffers that are not on the WGSF e-mail
list, invite them to join us. The WGSF Home page is: http://wgsf.oldgleaner.com/
E-MAIL REFLECTOR GROUP MAILING

A link to the e-mail list services is found at the bottom of each WGSF e-mail.
ARTICLES/TOPICS DATABASE
I have made several additions to the WGSF Articles database. Please note
that these are intended to be discussion starters, not a completed chapter,
by any means. And please add your own comments to them.
The topics that have commentary are highlighted. Click on the topic to view
the article:
http://www.wgsf.oldgleaner.com/articles_topics.html
Recent additions include:
- The Blue Truck
- The Mobile TV production truck
- A summary of blog comments about Mr. McDaniel
- WGSF TV cameras
- Power for the TV Truck
- Adult volunteer database
I am compiling all of the posts to the old WGSF Yahoo Groups list, and will
be posting those comments in the WGSF Articles/Topics database as well.
WGSF BLOG AND BLOG INFORMATION
The WGSF Blog is especially intended for discussion. I will be constantly
adding topics, so check often.
Perhaps the best way to check out the categories available for blogging
is to go to:
http://oldgleaner.com/gleaner_b2evolution/blogs/blog1.php?disp=catdir
Need more information about blogging? Note that there are two listings
at the top right of the Blog pages
"WGSF Blogs" and "Information"
Click on "Information" for help getting started; or
http://oldgleaner.com/gleaner_b2evolution/blogs/blog2.php
You have several options to add to the discussion
1. The WGSF Blog - You don't have to be a registered member of the Blog
to post comments, but it is so easy to sign up. Either way, as member or
visitor, just click on the link at the bottom of each post that says "Feedback"
You will get a page that invites you to leave comments. And - PLEASE leave
comments!
2. You can send me direct e-mail. I have several working e-mail addresses.
lhhubbell@oldgleaner.com
lhhubbell@johnstown.net
leek8mzh@yahoo.com
3. The WGSF e-mail reflector list may be used for comments that you wish
all of the list members to see as an e-mail.
Go to the WGSF Home page at:
http://wgsf.oldgleaner.com/#list
4. The Yahoo Groups account is still active, and you may post to WGSF Yahoo
Groups if you are a member (requires a Yahoo e-mail address) However, I
prefer that you use one of the other methods, since only a few persons are
still active there. The WGSF sites do have visitors, but the logs don't
give names.
I have listed some of the statistics for the WGSF Blog activity on the WGSF
main web page. http://wgsf.oldgleaner.com/WGSF_Blog_statistics.html
Remember - This is an active, on-going project, which hopes for - yes,
expects!- your contributions.
THE FUTURE IS COMING!
Noting that the Former WGSF Mobile TV Truck is now on display in Hilliard
at the Early Television Foundation reminds me that we have not been successful
in getting displays about WGSF set up in Newark. Neither The Works
nor the Historical Society seems to be interested.
I had an e-mail from Dan Wade about the 31 Reports backdrop, which he has
stored away, wondering if it could be displayed somewhere.
I also have a lot of goodies, which I would like to put on display. If not
Newark, maybe Hilliard?
I viewed parts of the Early Television Foundation convention Saturday, May
3, which was streamed on the internet.
I think that Tom Miller was there, and I hope that he will give us
a report.
The "streaming" experience gives me another idea: Why not "stream" some
of the old WGSF programs that we have on video tape. There were suggestions
at one of the reunions about converting the VR-660 tapes to digital. The next
step would naturally be to stream them on the internet. To check this service
out (probably one of several available) go to:
http://www.ustream.tv/
Just think about seeing "Wildcat Den" from the 70's. Maybe even
John Hall doing a "Rotten Egg' Award.
These streaming things/shows (whatever) are widely publicized on the web,
and have a blog associated with the broadcast.
What a way to continue broadcasting!!!
I don't have either the time or especially the digitizing equipment
at present, and maintaining the web site keeps me busy. But - Hey! sounds
like an excellent future project.
